May 22, 2020 · Villa La Rotonda is a Neoclassical villa outside Vicenza in northern Italy designed by Andrea Palladio. The villa’s correct name is Villa Almerico Capra Valmarana, but it is also known as “La Rotonda,” “Villa Rotonda,” “Villa Capra,” and “Villa Almerico Capra.”
La Rotonda is renowned for its perfect symmetry and harmonious proportions. It is a square building with a central circular hall topped by a dome. Each of the four facades is identical, featuring a portico with Ionic columns, a pediment, and a triangular tympanum.
