  1. Refuse Division. Abington Township's Public Works Department's Refuse Division is responsible for residential waste and recyclables collection. The Division collects trash, commingle, paper and yard debris one day per week from each residential property, via an automated system.

    Metal:Any item that is 80% or greater metal. If you are not sure if your item is metal, it would likely be considered non-metal and should be selected as non-metal item. Non-metal:Any item that is less than 80% metal. This includes items made of wood, plastic, glass, cloth materials and other non-metal materials.

    Please refer to your email receipt for the date you selected for pick up. As a reminder: 1. Metal items are collected on Wednesday or Friday. 2. Non-metal items, including furniture, are collected on Tuesday or Thursday. PLEASE NOTE, there is no large item collection on holidays or the day after a holiday.

    All items must be placed curbside at your normal trash collection location by 7:00 AM on the scheduled date of pick-up. Those items not placed curbside by 7:00 AM may not be collected. Township employees are not to go on private property to pick up any items. ONLY ITEMS PAID FOR WILL BE COLLECTED.

    To cancel an order and request a refund, please contact Public Works at 267-536-1038. PLEASE NOTE: There are NO REFUNDS seven (7) days after payment is submitted. There is a ten ($10) dollar processing FEE on ANY item not cancelled 48 hours prior to the collection date.

Through the month of September residents are able to swap their GREEN trash can for a larger or smaller size. 95 gallon, 65 gallon and 35 gallon trash cans are available. Residents will be charged the new amount for their can size in the 2020 tax bill.
