Apr 11, 2019 · Adelaide of Hesse was born around 1323 or 1324 to Henry II, Landgrave of Hesse and Elizabeth of Thuringia. In 1331, she was betrothed to Rupert, a Bavarian prince. Nothing came of this marriage arrangement.

After the annulment of her marriage, Adelaide went back home to Hesse. She spent the rest of her life in Hesse. After her ex-husband's death, she fought for her property rights. She intervened in this case to Pope Gregory XI. On May 26, 1371, the Pope urged King Louis to give back her property.
