After an eight-year hiatus, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is finally returning to Adult Swim.
The network announced today that the beloved animated series will return for its 12th season. The new season, which will consist of five all-new episodes, hails from the series' original creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro.
“We are thrilled to be making more Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes for a new generation of fans, building upon the most impressive collection of IP ever assembled," Maiellaro and Willis said together in a press release. "Success is optimal and leads to quality."
The new order from Adult Swim comes on the heels of the latest feature film Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, which arrives on HBO Max Feb. 8 and on Adult Swim March 12 at midnight. The movie features all the classic characters: Frylock (an intelligent box of french fries), Master Shake (a milkshake with a big mouth) and Meatwad (an adorable little ball of meat). Oh, and Carl Brutananadilewski, the trio's perverted neighbor.
“Congratulations!” Maiellaro and Willis added. “You waited just long enough for Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm to be free on the service your parents pay for. I can’t wait for you to discover the project everyone has been talking about, and by everyone, I mean our personal twitter accounts. There is too much stuff to watch already. Breathe, and focus exclusively on Aqua Teen. Delete everything else.”
The film will follow the Aqua Teens as they split up and then get back together to fight the mega-corporation Amazin, led by tech mogul Neil. Neil is voiced by Peter Serafinowicz, and his scientist sidekick Elmer is voiced by Paul Walter Hauser. Cary Means, Dana Snyder and Willis voice Frylock, Master Shake and Meatwad, respectively. Tim Robinson, Natasha Rothwell and Robert Smigel also star in the flick.
Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm was written and directed by Willis and Maiellaro and produced by Williams Street Productions.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force (also known by Aqua, with various alternative titles), sometimes abbreviated as ATHF or Aqua Teen, is an American adult animated television series created by Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro for Cartoon Network's late night programming block Adult Swim.
