   The organ was shipped to the U.K. in December of 1934, and installed in early 1935. This new 3/13 Wurlitzer replaced the 1929 2/10 Style 205SP Wurlitzer. The new organ, termed the "Wonder Wurlitzer" was built to Reginald Dixon's own specification, based on the 3/19 Balaban 4, but scaled down to fit in the Ballroom chambers.

   Reginald Dixon was the resident organist at the Tower Ballroom between 1930 until Easter Sunday 1970 when he gave his last Sunday Concert at the Wurlitzer Theatre Organ of the Tower Ballroom.    What is a ballroom organ?

   • This instrument was designed by Reginald Dixon, the third of the Ballroom organists – two previous holders of that post being fine organists but not able to play for dancing. There are seven Flue Ranks and seven Reed Ranks, operating on two wind pressures, 10 and 15 inches w.g. (water gauge) – about 5 times higher than a normal church organ.
