He made Poland a major European state and also created a Polish church independent of German control.

Bolesław II of Cieszyn ( Polish: Bolesław II cieszyński, Czech: Boleslav II. (Těšín), German: Boleslaus II. (Teschen); c. 1425/28 – 4 October 1452), was a Duke of Cieszyn since 1431 (until 1442 with his brothers as co-rulers), ruler over half of Bielsko and Frysztat (from 1442), and during 1452 sole ruler over one half of Bytom .
He kept the Duchy of Cieszyn, Bytom and the half of Głogów owned by the Cieszyn Piasts. The Duchies of Siewierz, Oświęcim and Toszek were given to Władysław. The Prince of Lubin, Henryk X, was given the role of mediator. Following the example of his father Prince Bolesław took an active part in international politics.

He was the second son of Mieszko I, Duke of Cieszyn by his wife, probably called Grzymisława.
