Charles II Francis of Austria ( German: Karl II. Franz von Innerösterreich) (3 June 1540 – 10 July 1590) was an Archduke of Austria and a ruler of Inner Austria ( Styria, Carniola, Carinthia and Gorizia) from 1564. He was a member of the House of Habsburg .

The twelfth child of Emperor Ferdinand I and Anna of Jagiello, who had brought the crowns of Bohemia and Hungary to the dynasty, Charles was born in Vienna on 3 June 1540. He was the youngest of three surviving sons.

Charles II. Archduke of Austria, from 1564 to his death in 1590 ruler of Inner Austria. At the partition of the Habsburg domains under the sons of Emperor Ferdinand I the youngest son Charles was assigned the group of lands making up Inner Austria.
Charles II of Inner Austria: marriage and offspring. As the ruler of Inner Austria he founded his own branch of the House of Habsburg, which was to become the main line of the dynasty in the following generation.
