Lewis Burwell " Chesty " Puller (June 26, 1898 – October 11, 1971) was a United States Marine Corps officer. Beginning his career fighting guerillas in Haiti and Nicaragua as part of the Banana Wars, he later served with distinction in World War II and the Korean War as a senior officer.

- Most Decorated Marine. Puller was the most decorated Marine in history, and the only Marine to receive five Navy Crosses. He led Marines in some of the bloodiest battles of World War II, including Guadalcanal and Peleliu, the names of which forever speak of the Marines’ exploits and sacrifices.
- Served as Both Officer and Enlisted. Puller was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War I. As the war wound down, he was put on inactive status and given the rank of corporal.
