On September 27, 2019 it was made public that former Morbid Angel guitarist Richard Brunelle died on September 23 at age 55. The cause of death remains unknown. In celebration of their 40th anniversary, Morbid Angel embarked on a five-week North American tour called the United States Tour of Terror in March–April 2023.
