Early on in his acting career, O'Keefe landed roles in various films, including the dramatic adaptation "A Bill of Divorcement" (1932) with John Barrymore, "I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang" (1932) and "Imitation of Life" (1934) with Claudette Colbert.
