Dithmarschen (German pronunciation: [ˈdɪtmaʁʃn̩] ⓘ, Low Saxon: [ˈdɪtmaːʃn̩]; archaic English: Ditmarsh; Danish: Ditmarsken; Medieval Latin: Tedmarsgo) is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Dithmarschen, area on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula between the Eider and Elbe rivers, now included in the Land (state) of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, but down to 1866 a semi-independent territory under the king of Denmark.

Burg is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany . It lies at the rim of the Heide-Itzehoe Geest with parts of the village in the marshland below. It was named after a fortress "Bökelnburg" of which a 9th-century earth wall ring remains.

' DITHMARSCHEN, or Ditmarsh (in the oldest form of the name Thiatmaresgaho, Dietmar's Gau), a territory between the Eider, the Elbe and the North Sea, forming the western part of the old duchy of Holstein, and now included in the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein. It contains about 550 sq. m. with 90,000 inhabitants.
