Especially, the handling of the True Knot. They were a lot more scary in the book than the movie could allow. Book 7/10... Movie 6/10. The movie has a Director's Cut which is WAY better than the drastically shortened theatrical version. It adds a lot of character moments and story beats. It's a great movie.
As a big fan of The Shining movie, the Shining book, and the Doctor Sleep book, I think the movie was about as good a blend of the 3 of them as you could get. It wasn't a perfect adaptation of the book at all. But it was a great sequel to the Shining movie and a great way to bring the original end of the book into the narrative.
