Dec 2, 2012 · Her brother, Dr. Allen Hughes, a Memphis plastic surgeon and outdoorsman, is a wildlife artist and carver with a national reputation. Twice he has been named best in show in both painting and carving at the National Wildlife Show in Kansas City, the only artist to have done so.
Dr. Hughes today is as adept with a paintbrush as he is with a scalpel. He began painting as a hobby while a Senior Resident and is a decoy carver as well as a wildlife watercolorist. He has produced 50 limited edition prints and received numerous awards for his paintings.
