This hybrid CD/SACD set is the first in Audite’s three-volume survey of Franck’s œuvre for organ, played by Hans-Eberhard Ross. A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg and now music director of St Martin, Ross has at his disposal the splendid Goll organ inaugurated in 1998.
Oct 16, 2012 · Hans-Eberhard Roß plays the Goll organ of St Martins, Memmingen, where he is music director and Cantor, which proves to be an ideal instrument for the music, much of which was written for the Cavaillé-Coll organ at Sainte Clotilde where Franck was organist for over 30 years.
This box-set of the complete organ works of Franck, previously released as three double CDs, is an excellent set of recordings. Hans Eberhard Roß's playing is persuasive and engaging throughout, from the miniature works of L'Organiste to the large-scale works such as the Trois Chorals and Six Pieces pour Grand Orgue.
