Gautam directed and produced a number of films, namely Hello Inspector, Commandar, Silsila, Waqt Ki Raftar, Marshall. He is considered as one of the pioneers of Marathi television industry. In 1999, his name was listed in the Limca Book of Records for directing the maximum number of episodes.
