    My Son, the Lover is the thirteenth and final episode of Season 1 of Good Times, also the 13th overall series episode. Written as a teleplay by Lou Derman, Bill Davenport, Norman Paul, and Jack Elinson, from an original story by Derman and Davenport, the episode, which was directed by Herbert Kenwith, premiered on CBS-TV, airing on May 10, 1974.

    A popular girl wants J.J. to paint her portrait and J.J. mistakenly assumes that they will become more serious when he makes plans to ask her to go steady. However, Florida and Thelma smell a rat.

    One of the most popular girls at school is interested in JJ. He starts making plans for going steady, buying her things, and proposing to her. No one in the family likes her because she is overly sweet. Of course, she has ulterior motives.

    Ta-Tanisha guest stars as Marcy, a gorgeous and popular high-school girl who has seemingly fallen in love with J.J. (Jimmie Walker). In truth, Marcy is merely cozying up to J.J. so that he'll paint her portrait for free. Alas, no one in the Evans family can warn the moonstruck J.J. that he's being played for a fool -- he'll have to learn that painf...
