It consists of 224 members, of which 168 are directly elected and 56 appointed by the Myanmar Armed Forces.

The House of Representatives (Burmese: ပြည်သူ့ လွှတ်တော်, pronounced: [pjìðṵ l̥ʊʔtɔ̀] Pyithu Hluttaw) is the lower house of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the bicameral legislature of Myanmar (Burma).
The Pyithu Hluttaw is the de jure lower house of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the bicameral legislature of Myanmar . It consists of 440 members, of which 330 are directly elected through the first-past-the-post system in each townships , and 110 are appointed by the Myanmar Armed Forces.
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw comprises of the following two Hluttaws: (a) in accord with the provisions of Section 109, the Pyithu Hluttaw formed with Hluttaw representatives elected on the basis of township as well as population and Hluttaw representatives being the Defence Services Personnel nominated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services;
