If you’re planning your next military move due to a PCS, you may be able to receive a dislocation allowance. A DLA partially reimburses service members for incurred household moving expenses. The household move must be required by a PCS, evacuation or — in some cases — ordered for the government’s convenience.
When you are completing a PCS Travel Voucher in the Army via Smart Voucher there is a an option to claim dislocation allowance. I didn’t know what this was and did some investigating in the regs and learned that this is a flat rate payment to servicemembers to partially offset the cost to relocate for a PCS.

Joint Travel Regulation authorizes DLA in advance of your move at a rate of 80%, with the remainder paid after the claim is filed. DLA may also be requested after the move when finalizing paperwork. The Army filing procedure states—
DLA pays out as part of your PCS travel reimbursement. If your GTC card was paid, you likely received your DLA already. You can check the payment in myPay under the Travel Advice of Payment option.
