Jul 1, 2022 · A second-round pick (42nd overall) by Miami in the 2018 NFL Draft, Gesicki has become one of the most productive tight ends in team history. He's improved his receptions and receiving yard totals in each of his four NFL seasons. In 2021, Gesicki tied the team's single-season tight end receptions record with 73 (Randy McMichael, 2004).
- Mike Gesicki. Gesicki’s role has been one that’s frequently discussed this offseason with the new change in the offensive system. He’s essentially a slot receiver, but this staff would like him to learn to play in-line rather than in the slot or out-wide.
- Durham Smythe. Smythe set career highs in receptions (34) and receiving yards (357) in 2021, earning a nice two-year, $7 million extension this offseason from Miami.
- Hunter Long. The Dolphins selected Long in the third round of the 2021 draft out of Boston College with the expectation that he may take on a small role as a rookie and then see more in his second year.
- Cethan Carter. Carter is entering his second season with Miami after spending the first four years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals. Last season, he recorded just two catches for 16 yards, but it makes sense considering he only played 52 offensive snaps over 16 games.

Jul 21, 2022 · The most likely winner of the TE2 position — and possibly the TE of the future for the Dolphins — is 2021 third-round pick Hunter Long. He struggled in his rookie season as many rookie tight ends do, but if you squint real hard, the 6-foot-5, 253-pound Long has size, strength, speed, and hands that look a little like Kittle.
