Janet Leahy is an American television executive producer and writer, whose name is often associated with prestige television. She has worked in both capacities on the AMC drama series Mad Men and won a WGA Award for her work on the show.
Leahy spent the past fifteen years writing and producing one hour television dramas, including "Mad Men," "Boston Legal" and "Gilmore Girls," for which she has received six Emmy nominations, two Writers' Guild Awards and a Peabody Award for best drama.

Janet Leahy taught FTVM 411: Screenwriting for Television II in Fall of 2021. In addition to her class, Leahy hosted a visit from comedy writer Barton Dean in Space 2435 North Quad. and she conducted a workshop for our Mitchell Scholars about working in the industry.
The poems in her new collection are drawn from her experiences as a teacher in Milwaukee public schools. Janet lives in New Berlin, Wisconsin and serves on the board of The Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. She enjoys gardening, though the deer assume she has planted her garden for them. Her sweet pea vine comes from ancestral roots.
