Biography. Katharina was the daughter of Mladen II Šubić, Ban of Croatia and Lord of all of Bosnia. [1] Katharina married Bolesław III the Generous, Duke of Legnica-Brzeg, in 1326, four years after the death of his first wife, Princess Margareta of Bohemia. The marriage, which lasted almost twenty-six years, was childless.
At the outset of the 14th century, Paul I Šubić of Bribir was the longest-ruling Ban of Croatia (1275–1312), as well as lord of all of Bosnia (1305–1312). His son was Paul II Šubić of Bribir. Paul I's grandson was the first Zrinski, Juraj III. Šubić of Bribir, who, after the move to Zrin, took the title Juraj I. Zrinski .
Šubić family. The Šubić family, also known initially as Bribirščić (Berberistich, Broborstic, Breberstic, Breberienses), [12] was one of the Twelve noble tribes of Croatia and a great noble house which constituted Croatian statehood in the Middle Ages. They held the county of Bribir ( Varvaria) in inland Dalmatia.
