In the "Seinfeld" pilot, Garlington played Claire, the waitress friend to George (Jason Alexander) and Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld). She was the Elaine before there was an Elaine. After she was dropped, there wasn't any more "Seinfeld" for Garlington.
Garlington was originally intended to play the lead female role in Seinfeld. She was the female regular in the pilot episode, "The Seinfeld Chronicles", playing the waitress Claire at Pete's Luncheonette.
She also played Kirsten, Rose Nylund's (Betty White) daughter in the final season of The Golden Girls, Ronni, the mistress of Joey Tribbiani's father on Friends, and the waitress Claire at Pete's Luncheonette in the pilot episode, The Seinfeld Chronicles.
