Leigh Adrian Harline (March 26, 1907 – December 10, 1969) was an American film composer and songwriter. He was known for his "musical sophistication that was uniquely 'Harline-esque' by weaving rich tapestries of mood-setting underscores and penning memorable melodies for animated shorts and features."

Leigh Adrian Harline was an Academy Award-winning film composer and songwriter. He was born on 26 March 1907, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of soldier Charles Härlin and Jahanna Matilda Härlin. He was the youngest of 13 children. His parents came from the village of Härfsta in Simtuna parish, Sweden.
Biography. Leigh Harline (26 March 1907, Salt Lake City, Utah – 10 December 1969, Long Beach, Calif.) was an American song writer. Harline studied at the University of Utah and began working for a local radio station. In 1928, he moved to California, arranging and conducting music for radio stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Harline was a university-trained musician with extensive experience in radio. His first Disney songs (and score) were heard in the epic Father Noah’s Ark in early 1933. He is perhaps best known for crafting Disney’s perennial signature tune, “When You Wish Upon A Star,” for Pinocchio (1940).
