- James E. Pepper Distillery. This Lexington staple first began distilling in 1779 during the American Revolution. However, it shut down during the 1960s when the bourbon industry experienced a recession.
- Woodford Reserve. Woodford Reserve is perhaps the most well-known distillery out of Lexington. This site began distilling back in 1812 and is now considered a National Historic Landmark.

The Lexington Distillery District is a 25-acre entertainment district in downtown Lexington, KY, on the grounds of the historic James E. Pepper Distillery - a National History Landmark. Originally built in 1879, the distillery ceased production in 1961 and was abandoned for over 50 years.
