Borrowing source material from Mortal Kombat, the film contains two plots: one dealing with Scorpion seeking his revenge on those who murdered his family and clan after being resurrected by Quan Chi, the other follows Johnny Cage, Liu Kang and Sonya Blade, who are chosen to participate on the Mortal Kombat tournament for the fate of Earthrealm.
In the wake of Earthrealm's success, Shang Tsung orders the Black Dragon to kill them. Liu Kang reunites with Sonya and Johnny and later, they meet Scorpion after killing a few Black Dragon thugs. Raiden appears and tells them they must enter the throne room to face the final kombatant, but Black Dragon members try to stop them.
Liu Kang and Kitana break out into a dynamic face-off in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, the first animated movie under the Mortal Kombat franchise. Watch as the protector of the Earthrealm defends himself against the princess of Outworld in an action-packed scene, reminiscent of the video game's 2D fighting style.
