The Logan Township area was the location of two other iron firms besides the Allegheny Furnace. These were the Juniata Iron Works and Blair Furnace. Blair Furnace was built in 1846 and produced iron mostly with ore from the Frankstown area. The iron industry in our area peaked during the Civil War period.
