This quest focuses on Triss and her mission to save the mages of Novigrad. You may start this quest after “A Matter of Life and Death.” This is also the quest where you may romance Triss, granted you’ve made and make the right decisions. Head to Triss’ hideout to begin the quest.
Triss is stressed about the mission at hand. She wants you to help decide if she should risk the whole operation to save two mages that haven’t shown up or abandon them to certain death. Pick which ever you like.
Once at the meeting spot in the Kingfisher Inn, Triss will check on the other mages while you chat with Reuven. The next step of the escape is to clear a path through the sewers for the mages to the docks where a boat waits for them. Take Triss through the tunnels and clear them together. Stay close to Triss. If she falls too far behind, she won’t walk forward and keep up. There will be drowners for you to take out. Use Igni and Triss’ fire magic to take care of them.
The two of you reach a dead end. Use Aard to blast out a wall on the right to find a secret library. Do the same to a wall in the back left of the library to continue on. A drowner will attack. Finish it off and go through the gate nearby. Not too far ahead will be a large number of rats. Head down the stairs and clear them out with Triss. Move down the tunnel and up a small set of stairs. Take out three more drowners. Make sure to rest up after fighting the three drowners. You’ll need all your health for a fight with vampire just a few tunnels ahead. This breed of vampire is called a Katakan and they can be a pain to kill.
The catch with these types of Vampires is that they regenerate health rapidly. You want to be quick and hit hard to finish him. Use the Yrden sign to slow him way down. When he is in the circle it prevents him from running around super fast and turning invisible. Wail on him with heavy attacks and Igni if you need to. Just remember to cast Yrden to keep him slowed and easier to kill.
With the Katakan dead, you will find the exit to the docks. You’ll see Reuven there, along with the boat. A group of six witcher hunters will attack. Quickly dispatch them with Aard and ground finishers.
