Jul 13, 2022 · Below I have simplified how to code for a Maryland bridge. Be sure to use the correct codes specific to the material of the pontic and wings, which must coincide with each other, before sending the claim off to the insurance company.
For traditional fixed dental bridges, the appropriate code is D6245 —Pontic – Porcelain/Ceramic. This code should be used when billing for the fabrication and placement of a porcelain or ceramic pontic (the artificial tooth in a bridge).
For a Section Bridge, which is a fundamental restorative treatment, the appropriate ADA code is D6040. This code is assigned to the placement of an implant-supported fixed denture for one section of a bridge.
The Maryland Bridge is less invasive for single tooth replacement than conventional bridgework, and enables the dental practitioner to splint or replace missing teeth esthetically, with minimal tooth modification.

An anterior cantilever dental bridge with a wing similar to those for Marlyand bridges for a little extra support. We do not bond or cement this wing to the tooth adjacent.
