Traditional funerals consist of the arrangement conference with a licensed funeral director, embalming, dressing, and casketing of the human remains, viewing, and a complete funeral service with an earth burial or entombment. These services may be held in a church, funeral home chapel, hall, or synagogue.
Cremation is a process for disposition of the human body. The body is placed into an approved combustible container and then placed in a special furnace, commonly called a retort. Under intense heat and flame, the body is reduced to bone fragments, known as cremated human remains.
Direct Cremation – Cremation only with no viewing or services. Memorial Service – Service held after the cremation, often an urn with the cremated human remains is present.
