  4. The Parque del Oeste or Western Park is a park north east of the Royal Palace and quite a bit away from the main tourist circuit of Madrid. Which is a bit of a shame because it's a fantastic park. Probably the most famous and best known feature of the park is the Templo de Debod and deservedly so.

Sloping down the hill behind the Moncloa metro station, Parque del Oeste is quite beautiful, with plenty of shady corners where you can recline under a tree in the heat of the day and enjoy fine views out to the west towards Casa de Campo.
