Phyllis Logan (born 11 January 1956) is a Scottish actress, and portrays Kate Merrill in Strangler's Wood, which is the second episode of the second series of the popular British crime drama Midsomer Murders. Phyllis is most famously known for playing Mrs. Hughes (later Carson) in the BBC series Downton Abbey (2010–15).
