Richard (5 January 1209 – 2 April 1272) was an English prince who was King of the Romans from 1257 until his death in 1272. He was the second son of John, King of England, and Isabella, Countess of Angoulême. Richard was nominal Count of Poitou from 1225 to 1243, and he also held the title Earl of Cornwall since 1225.

On January 13, 1257, Richard was elected King of the Romans, the title used by the German king following his election by the prince-electors. The title King of the Romans was predominantly a claim to become Holy Roman Emperor and was dependent upon coronation by the Pope.
On 27 May 1257, the archbishop of Cologne crowned Richard "King of the Romans" in Aachen; however, he made only four brief visits to Germany between 1257 and 1269. Richard's second wife, Sanchia of Provence, died on 9 November 1261 at Berkhamsted Castle and was buried in Hailes Abbey.
