Scott Hoffman took over the drum chair from Meeder later in 1992. Donny Baldwin (ex- Jefferson Starship ) filled in for Hoffman on some 1996 tour dates after Hoffman was down with a broken arm, but Gary "Madman" Moffatt (formerly of Cactus ) has been the band's drummer since 1997.

Scott Meeder. Scott Meeder was part of 38 Special as the drummer and percussionist from 1991 to 1992, a brief but significant period that saw him contribute to the band’s rhythm section. Though his time with the band was short-lived, Meeder’s involvement came at a time of change for 38 Special, as they continued to tour and record new music.
