Sir Nicholas Robert Hytner ( / ˈhaɪtnər / HYTE-nər; born 7 May 1956) is an English theatre director, film director, and film producer. He was previously the Artistic Director of London's National Theatre. His major successes as director include Miss Saigon, The History Boys and One Man, Two Guvnors.

Sir Nicholas read English at Trinity Hall and went on to become a theatre, film and opera director. From 2003-15, he was Director of the National Theatre in London, directing plays by Shakespeare and Alan Bennett as well as classical and new plays. Theatrical accolades include three Olivier, five Evening Standard and three Tony awards.
