Sisimiut (Greenlandic:), formerly known as Holsteinsborg, is the capital and largest city of the Qeqqata municipality, the second-largest city in Greenland, and the largest Arctic city in North America. It is located in central-western Greenland, on the coast of Davis Strait, approximately 320 km (200 mi) north of Nuuk.

Jun 17, 2020 · With a population of 5,509 people (2019), Sisimiut is the 2nd largest city in Greenland. Surprisingly, it is also one of the most overlooked! Although many cruise ships call in on their way along the West coast, the other main visitors are hikers undertaking the Arctic Circle Trail during the Summer.
Sisimiut, town on the west-central coast of Greenland, near the mouth of Amerloq Fjord. The Danish settled the site in 1764, and a church (still standing) was built in 1773. The Gammelhuset (Old House), constructed in 1756, served as the residence of the first Danish governor of Greenland.
