Mar 3, 2023 · Vasco Nez de Balboa was a Spanish conquistador most known for his role in the discovery of the Pacific Ocean in 1513. He was born in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain, in 1475, and arrived in the New World in 1500 as part of an expedition led by Rodrigo de Bastidas.
