Series overview. Stargate Atlantis follows the present-day adventures of Major John Sheppard and his military team from Earth that, along with two dozen other teams, explore distant planets in the Pegasus Galaxy. Jul 31, 2022 · Spin-off Stargate Universe was cancelled, and it became clear that Extinction wouldn’t be made. “Between the time those [SG-1] direct-to-DVD movies were released and we sent in our script for Stargate: Extinction, the DVD market had died,” Mallozzi said. “Essentially the bottom had fallen out. And MGM decided to shelve the production on the movie.”
SCI FI will have the exclusive worldwide television premiere of the yet to be titled Stargate Atlantis film, which will then be released on DVD by MGM. The movie will be written by Stargate Atlantis' executive producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, who also serve as series showrunners.
