May 11, 2011 · Our friends at Lion Brand Yarn point us to this awesome pattern, designed by Andrea Rangel, to create the sweater worn by The Dude in The Big Lebowski. The original sweater, made by Oregon’s Pendleton Woolen Mills, is being auctioned off this weekend in Beverly Hills.

Nov 1, 2014 · The First Revivals. Pendleton’s first run at reproducing the “Big Lebowski sweater” came in the Fall of 2011. The Dude Cardigan was not an exact replica. It had the weight and coloration of the original Westerley, with a slightly different knit pattern and a leather zipper pull.
The Knitter’s Dude takes inspiration from the iconic Big Lebowski sweater, but it’s designed with the knitter’s enjoyment and inspiration in mind. It’s worked entirely in the round so that the stranded color work never has to be worked on the wrong side, and finishing doesn’t require any seaming.
