Overview. Last Shot: A Final Four Mystery (2005) is a sports and mystery novel for young readers by John Feinstein. A sports journalist, Feinstein has written for a variety of publications, including The Washington Post, Golf Digest, and Sports Illustrated. He is also the author of 45 fiction and nonfiction books about sports.
Critical summary review. Published in the year the iconic (and eerily similar) documentary classic “Hoop Dreams” was released, “The Last Shot” is still the only book ever written by New York Times Magazine contributor Darcy Frey. Regretfully, we might add, since it is inarguably one of the best books on basketball ever written.
