The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum (Spanish: Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, pronounced [muˈseo ˈtisem boɾneˈmisa]; named after its founder, Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza), or simply the Thyssen, is an art museum in Madrid, Spain, located near the Prado Museum on one of the city's main boulevards.
The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza boasts a privileged location in the historic centre of Madrid, on the corner of the Paseo del Prado and the Carrera de San Jerónimo. The area was still undeveloped in the mid-sixteenth century and consisted chiefly of orchards.
