English: The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff, to help revitalize the Tribeca neighborhood and the rest of Lower Manhattan after the attack of September 11, 2001 in which the World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorists.
This year's festival features 110 feature films from 40 countries – including 88 world premieres. Just under two thirds of the feature films showing this year were directed by female, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ filmmakers. 43 short films – from 25 countries – are also in competition.
