Volumes 3 & 4 is the second studio album by The Desert Sessions. This compilation would comprise the third and fourth volumes (Volume 3: Set Coordinates For The White Dwarf!!! and Volume 4: Hard Walls and Little Trips, both released in 1998.) and released as a CD via Man's Ruin Records on 23 October 1998. The CD would feature a bonus track not on either of the vinyl volumes.

This collection is notable as it features four different bands rather than a single collective on the prior collection:

•Earthlings? ((Pete Stahl, Dave Catching, Fred Drake, and Musharitas) would perform "At the Helm of Hell's Ships" and "Sugar Rush", both recorded at Rancho De La Luna.

•The Eagles of Death Metal (consisting of Jesse 'The Devil' Hughes, Loo Balls, Carlo Von Sexron, Craig Armstrong (bass player) and T. Fresh) performed "The Gosso King of Crater Lake", "Hogleg" and the CD exclusive "You Keep On Talkin'". The Eagles of Death Metal has since become a real band centered with Hughes and Homme as the core members.

•The Green Monarchs (consisting of Alfredo Hernández, Larry Lalli, Mario Lalli, Joshua Homme, Chris Goss, Nick Oliveri, Tony Tornay) performed "Monster In The Parasol", "Jr. High Love" and "Eccentric Man". "Monster in the Parasol" would go on to appear on the Queens of the Stone Age album Rated R. Notably Mondo Generator would also perform "Jr. High Love" live on occasion.

•An unnamed grouping (Often credited simply as The Desert Sessions) consisting of Pete Stahl, John McBain, Joshua Homme, Ben Shepherd, and Alfredo Hernandez performed "Nova" and "Avon", which were likely leftovers from the original set of Desert Sessions. The music tracks of both of these songs are identical with different vocal tracks. Pete Stahl sings "Nova" and Homme sings "Avon". Homme has said that this was an experiment to show how two different vocalists would treat the same piece of music. "Avon" would ultimately appear on the 1998 album Queens of the Stone Age.
