    Harthacnut of Cumberland was a character in The Saxon Stories novel series and The Last Kingdom television series.

    He was a Danish Jarl and made the claim of being the petty king of Northumbria, which was ignored by the great lords of York. He was one of the Jarls who participated in the Viking invasion of England. He was the father of Guthred and Gisela, but was killed on Kjartan's orders by his men. He was known as a famous Danish warrior as well.
