The City of Prague aldermen’s committee approved the rules of the permanent committee of the Municipal Museum of Prague on 3 October 1881. In the spring of 1883, the museum opened its collections to the public in a small pavilion near the demolished Poříčí Gate.
The Prague City Museum was founded on 3 October 1881, when the Rules of the Permanent Committee of the Municipal Museum of Prague were approved. A key moment in history was also the opening of the main building in Florenc on 27 September 1900. This began the journey to share the rich cultural heritage of our capital city with the world.
