Waukesha (/ ˈ w ɔː k ɪ ʃ ɔː /) is a city in and the county seat of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Its population was 71,158 at the 2020 census. From 1846 to 1847, the city was called Prairieville. In 2021, six people were killed in a vehicle-ramming attack.
