They announced a new game named Cinder, which was essentially an exact copy of fer.al except using NFTs for some reason. At first, they told us that this wouldn't affect the preexisting fer.al game, but quickly that changed, and soon enough fer.al was announced to be shutting down.
I also strongly suspect WildWorks had plans as soon as they saw NFTs taking off to scrap Fer.al and go for where they saw even more dollar signs, despite the moral implications. My point was not to never support something you enjoy financially, but to be wary of the companies you do support.
In case you were all worried that you missed feral's last day, you haven't yet. It was changed. Basically, people found the TOS of feral, and in it, stated by Wildworks themselves, was an agreement that they could not close down feral without a 30 day forewarning.
