Jun 26, 2020 · The M40 recoilless rife is a lightweight, portable, crew-served 105 mm recoilless rifle made in the United States. Intended primarily as an anti-tank weapon, it could also be employed in an antipersonnel role with the use of an antipersonnel-tracer flechette round.
The M40 was the final and largest iteration of the recoilless rifle in the American military service. Designed to fix the shortcomings of the 105mm M27 that preceded it, the M40 was light and powerful and added a .50 caliber 12.7mm spotting rifle to assist in being able to make first-round hits.

Recoilless rife inconsistency. RANT. Is it just me or has the recoilless refill been inconstant at taking down bot drops. I can hit it in the engine and someone’s it goes right down, sometimes it stalls then falls, sometimes it drops the bots and then falls. What’s going on?
A 12" HE shell from such a small platform, even if the range and ammo is limited, sounds useful. A 104mm recoilless rifle has a muzzle velocity of 503 m/s, the guns on the Warspite where only 750 m/s, so your not at that big a muzzle velocity disadvantage.
