simply, the spirit of existentialism is all about the search for the mean-ing of life. Or better, it’s the search for a perspective on life from which we can create meaning. This is obviously a broad overview of existentialism, and it isn’t accu-rate to say that each existentialist (or perhaps any) would endorse every-thing that I have written.
The basic problem that I will consider is that, with a radical view of freedom, existentialism, and in particular Sartre’s existentialist philosophy, turns out to be quite implausible. The specific issue I will discuss occurs in the context of institutions with distorted norms, institutions where the norms enforced are illegitimate.
