A new V8 engine was created for the LaSalle. The result was a 303 cubic-inch power-plant that was simple to produce, less expensive than traditional methods, and produced excellent performance. Offered as a lower-priced line by Cadillac from 1927 to 1940, LaSalle stood on its own as a premium brand.

LaSalle. The LaSalle was an automobile product of General Motors Corporation, and sold as a companion marque of Cadillac from 1927 to 1940. The two were linked by similarly-themed names, both being named for explorers— Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac and René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, respectively.
