Persona 1 is what convinced me to give mainline SMT a try. Persona 2 has the best story and characters in the entire franchise. The gameplay hasn't aged well, and not in a weird way like Persona 1's gamplay. Persona 2 plays like a very early draft of the newer games.
Definitely! While both games definitely lack the slice of life aspect, they are each great in their own respects: Persona 1 has an intriguing story, intuitive (if sometimes annoying) combat, the negotiation system, and one of the better fusion systems in the series.
